StarCraft, electronic game published by Blizzard Entertainment (now a division of Activision Blizzard). Released in March 1998, it went on to become one of the most successful real-time strategy (RTS) games of all time. StarCraft incorporated many of the features that were regarded as standard for the RTS genre (it built on many of the conventions previously used by Blizzard in the Warcraft game franchise), but it integrated those elements in a way that set it apart from its contemporaries.
