Portia Simpson Miller (born December 12, 1945, Wood Hall, St. Catherine parish, Jamaica) is a Jamaican politician who served as the country’s first female prime minister (2006–07; 2012–16). Portia Simpson received her early education at Marlie Hill Primary School and St. Martin’s High School. After her graduation from high school, she studied at the Jamaica Commercial Institute and worked as a secretary and in the field of social services.
