Earl Campbell (born March 29, 1955, Tyler, Texas, U.S.) is an American gridiron football running back whose bruising style made him one of the most dominant rushers in the history of the sport despite his relatively short career. Campbell was raised in poverty alongside 10 siblings in rural Texas. He was a hotly recruited high school football player and ended up at the University of Texas (Austin).
